Hear Me

“I had never really heard the birds outside my window until the moment I heard them with a conscious mind.”

Hear Me, the company’s inaugural creation premiered as a work in progress in August 2019 after a week-long residency at Xing Dance Theatre. The work was inspired by an experience choreographer Martha Hart had with “Rapid Transformational Therapy’” which is a gentle form of hypnosis. This form of therapy attempts to clear the subconscious of negative or old thought patterns which develop around trauma. She felt free. Her senses had reawakened, particularly her hearing. She set out to create a physical expression of both the struggle and freedom of this journey. The piece coincidentally has a hypnotic feel, drawing the viewer in both visually and emotionally.
